Project Summary:
This project included the construction of a 71,000 sq.ft. building consisting of two arenas, ancillary and multi-purpose spaces. The facility has two full-sized NHL arenas with seating for 200 and 400, ten dressing rooms, two referee rooms and first-aid station and skate shop. The multi-purpose spaces include warm viewing areas, a meeting room, lobby administration offices, public washrooms and concession area.
In 2006, the Nanaimo Ice Centre was presented the Recreational Facility of BC's Bill Woycik Outstanding Facility Award. In 2007, this project received the Vancouver Regional Construction Association's Silver Award of Excellence.
