Description

Dextran, Maleimide Functional (Dextran-MAL) is created by introding maleimide groups onto the dextran molecule through chemical reactions that create covalent bonds between the maleimide functional groups and the dextran backbone. The maleimide groups on Dextran-MAL are highly reactive toward molecules containing thiol (-SH) groups. This reactivity allows for controlled and selective bioconjugation with biomolecules such as proteins, peptides, antibodies, and peptides that contain thiol groups. The reaction forms stable covalent bonds (thioether bonds), enabling the creation of bioconjugates for various research and therapeutic purposes.
