Description

Biotin-PEG2-C4-alkyne is a biotinylation reagent that can react with azide moiety in Cu(I)-catalyzed Click Chemistry reaction to form a stable triazole linkage. C4-alkyne is a terminal alkyne functional group consisting of a carbon chain with four carbon atoms (C4) and an alkyne moiety (-C≡CH) at the end. Alkyne groups are commonly used in bioconjugation and click chemistry reactions, such as copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) and strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC), to selectively label and modify biomolecules with azide-containing compounds under mild, biocompatible conditions. Biotin-PEG2-C4-alkyne is often used as a bifunctional linker molecule in bioconjugation applications, enabling the specific and covalent attachment of biotinylated molecules to azide-functionalized substrates or vice versa. The biotin moiety allows for subsequent binding to streptavidin or avidin, facilitating immobilization, purification, or detection of the labeled biomolecules.
