Description

Oil Dispersible Upconverting Nanoparticles (Oil Dispersible UCNPs) can be engineered for biocompatibility, making them suitable for use in biological and medical applications. Surface modifications can include biocompatible ligands to ensure compatibility with biological systems. In PDT applications, oil-dispersible UCNPs can be combined with photosensitizers and used for cancer treatment. Upon exposure to NIR light, they generate reactive oxygen species, selectively destroying cancer cells.
