Description

Carboxyl PEG Functionalized Spherical Silica Nanoparticles are nanoparticles composed of silica (SiO2) with a spherical shape, surface-modified with carboxyl (-COOH) groups and polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains. The polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains attached to the surface of the nanoparticles serve several purposes. PEGylation enhances the biocompatibility of the nanoparticles, reducing nonspecific interactions with proteins and cells in biological environments. It also increases the circulation time of the nanoparticles in the bloodstream by reducing their uptake by the reticuloendothelial system (RES), leading to improved pharmacokinetics and biodistribution.
