Description

EGS Crosslinker consists of two succinimidyl ester groups linked by an ethylene glycol spacer. This spacer imparts flexibility to the molecule, allowing it to bridge and crosslink primary amines on biomolecules. EGS reacts specifically with primary amines (-NH2 groups) in proteins, peptides, or other molecules, forming stable amide bonds. The resulting crosslink is covalent and irreversible under physiological conditions. EGS can be employed to crosslink cell surface proteins or intracellular proteins, enabling the study of protein localization, trafficking, and signaling pathways. In structural biology, EGS is utilized in methods such as crosslinking mass spectrometry (XL-MS) to probe the proximity of amino acid residues within and between proteins, aiding in structural elucidation.
