Poly(L-Glutamic Acid Sodium Salt) Aldehyde (pGlu Sodium Salt-ALD) is a modified form of poly(L-glutamic acid) where some of the carboxyl groups (-COOH) on the polymer backbone have been converted into aldehyde functional groups (-CHO). Poly(L-glutamic acid) is a biodegradable polymer composed of repeating units of L-glutamic acid, a naturally occurring amino acid. By modifying the carboxyl groups into aldehydes, the polymer gains the ability to react with amino groups (-NH2) present in other molecules, such as proteins or peptides, through Schiff base formation or reductive amination reactions.
