Description

Human serum albumin, HSA, maleimide function can be used for site-specific labeling of thiol-containing molecules, such as cysteine residues in proteins or peptides. This enables the selective attachment of fluorophores, biotin, drugs, or other functional moieties to specific sites on HSA, allowing for precise control over labeling and conjugation. Besides, this compound can be crosslinked to itself or to other molecules containing thiol groups. This allows for the formation of HSA-based hydrogels, nanoparticles, or other polymeric structures through thioether bond formation. These crosslinked HSA materials have applications in tissue engineering, drug delivery, and controlled release systems.
