Description

endo-BCN-pentanoic acid is a click chemistry reagent containing a BCN group and a terminal carboxylic acid. Endo-BCN (bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne) is a strained alkyne derivative with a bicyclic structure. It is commonly used as a dienophile in Diels-Alder reactions due to its high reactivity towards dienes. Endo-BCN reacts selectively with tetrazines in a bioorthogonal manner, making it useful for bioconjugation applications. The carboxylic acid functional group (-COOH) makes pentanoic acid acidic and capable of forming salts and esters. In the case of endo-BCN-pentanoic acid, the pentanoic acid moiety serves as a linker or spacer group, providing flexibility and solubility to the molecule. Endo-BCN-pentanoic acid is commonly used in bioconjugation chemistry, particularly in the context of click chemistry reactions. The endo-BCN group can react selectively and rapidly with tetrazines, forming stable covalent bonds via a Diels-Alder reaction. This bioorthogonal reaction is highly efficient and specific, making it suitable for labeling biomolecules, imaging, drug delivery, and other biomedical applications.
