Description

DBCO-PEG1-NHS ester consists of three main components: Dibenzocyclooctyne (DBCO), a polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer with a single ethylene glycol unit, and N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester. NHS stands for N-hydroxysuccinimide, which is a leaving group used to activate carboxylic acids for amine coupling reactions. This compound is used to functionalize molecules containing primary amines (-NH2) through amide bond formation. The NHS ester reacts specifically with primary amines to form stable amide bonds, resulting in the covalent attachment of the DBCO moiety to the target molecule via the PEG spacer. It can also be conjugated to imaging agents, such as fluorescent dyes or contrast agents, for use in diagnostic imaging techniques, including fluorescence imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or positron emission tomography (PET), for visualization and tracking of biological processes in vitro or in vivo.
