Description

Methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(L-lysine hydrochloride) (mPEG-b-PLL HCl) combines mPEG and PLL HCL. PEG is a biocompatible and hydrophilic polymer known for its excellent solubility in water. It is often used to improve the solubility, stability, and pharmacokinetics of various drugs and biomolecules. PLL is a cationic, biodegradable polymer. Its positive charge can interact with negatively charged molecules, such as nucleic acids (DNA, RNA), and facilitate their delivery into cells. The hydrochloride ions associated with the lysine residues contribute to the overall charge and properties of the copolymer. They may affect the electrostatic interactions of the copolymer with biomolecules.
