OPSS-PEG-NH2 (OPSS-PEG-Amine, Ortho-pyridyl disulfide functionalized polyethylene glycol-amine) is a chemical compound consisting of an OPSS (orthopyridyl disulfide) group, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer, and an amine group (NH2). The OPSS functional group contains a disulfide bond (S-S) with a pyridyl disulfide moiety. Disulfide bonds are known for their ability to form covalent linkages with thiol (-SH) groups through thiol-disulfide exchange reactions. The amine functional group (-NH2) consists of a nitrogen atom bonded to two hydrogen atoms. Amines are chemically reactive and can participate in various bioconjugation reactions, including amidation or Schiff base formation.
