N-Acetyl-Calicheamicin is a semi-synthetic derivative of calicheamicin, a potent cytotoxic compound produced by the bacterium Micromonospora echinospora. Calicheamicin is a member of the enediyne class of antibiotics, known for their extraordinary ability to induce DNA cleavage and cause cell death. N-Acetyl-calicheamicin has been extensively studied in the development of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), where it is conjugated to monoclonal antibodies targeting specific antigens expressed on cancer cells.
