Poly(tert-butyl methacrylate), isotactic refers to a polymer where the tert-butyl groups are consistently arranged on the same side of the polymer backbone. Isotactic polymers have a regular and stereoregular arrangement of side groups, which can result in distinct properties compared to their atactic counterparts. Isotactic PtBMA tends to have a higher melting point and better thermal stability compared to its atactic counterpart. This property makes it suitable for applications requiring high-temperature resistance, such as in the production of heat-resistant films, coatings, or fibers.
