NH2-PEG-CH2CH2COOtBu (Amine-PEG-t-Butyl ester) can be used for modifying surfaces of nanoparticles or biomaterials, taking advantage of the amine group’s reactivity. The tert-butyl ester group may provide protection during surface modification processes. In addition, the amine group allows for various chemical modifications, such as amidation reactions, enabling the introduction of specific functionalities. The tert-butyl ester group can be selectively removed under suitable conditions.
