HSPC Liposomes, also known as hydrogenated soy phosphatidylcholine liposomes, are a type of liposomal formulation composed primarily of hydrogenated soy phosphatidylcholine (HSPC) as the main lipid component. Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid commonly found in biological membranes and is a key constituent of liposomes due to its amphiphilic nature, meaning it has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions. HSPC liposomes are employed in cancer therapy for the targeted delivery of anticancer drugs to tumor tissues. Liposomes can exploit the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect exhibited by tumors to accumulate preferentially in cancerous tissues. Additionally, surface modification of HSPC liposomes with targeting ligands allows for specific recognition and binding to cancer cells, enhancing drug delivery and therapeutic outcomes.
