Description

4,4′-Diethynylbiphenyl (4,​4′-​diethynyl-​1,​1′-​biphenyl / DEBP) consists of two phenyl rings connected by a carbon-carbon triple bond (ethynyl group) at the 4 and 4′ positions. It can be polymerized to form conjugated polymers with extended π-electron delocalization along the polymer backbone. In addition, the ethynyl groups can participate in cross-coupling reactions, such as Sonogashira or Glaser coupling, to form carbon-carbon bonds with other organic molecules. This allows for the synthesis of more complex molecules or functional materials.
