DBCO-PEG-COOH (DBCO-PEG-acid, Dibenzocycolctyne-PEG-Acid, Dibenzocycolctyne-PEG-COOH, DBCO-PEG-carboxylic acid) is a bioconjugation reagent that has gained significant interest in the field of pharmaceutical research and development. This molecule is composed of three functional groups, namely maleimide, PEG, and DBCO. The maleimide group is a well-known thiol-reactive group that reacts with free thiols (-SH) of cysteine residues in proteins, peptides, and other biomolecules. The PEG group, or polyethylene glycol, is a versatile polymer that can increase solubility, stability, and biocompatibility of bioconjugates. The DBCO group, or dibenzocyclooctyne, is a strained alkyne that forms a stable and fast-reacting cyclooctyne-alkyne cycloaddition reaction with azide-containing molecules.
