hexakis[4-​(carboxyphenyl)​oxamethyl]​-​3-​oxapentane (tetrakis(4-​carboxyphenyl)​silane / Benzoic acid, 4,​4′-​[[2-​[[3-​(4-​carboxyphenoxy)​-​2,​2-​bis[(4-​carboxyphenoxy)​methyl]​propoxy]​methyl]​-​2-​[(4-​carboxyphenoxy)​methyl]​-​1,​3-​propanediyl]​bis(oxy)​]​bis-) forms a polymer or dendrimer structure where multiple benzene rings are linked together via oxamide bridges, with 3-oxapentane units interspersed between them. The carboxylic acid groups present in the compound can undergo condensation reactions with other functional groups, leading to the formation of covalent bonds. As a result, hexakis[4-(carboxyphenyl)oxamethyl]-3-oxapentane may be used as a crosslinking agent in the synthesis of polymer networks or hydrogels with tunable properties.
