Description

Poly(4-vinyl imidazole), often abbreviated as P4VI, is a polymer derived from the monomer 4-vinyl imidazole. P4VI contains nitrogen atoms in its structure, which can coordinate with metal ions. This property makes it useful in metal ion capture and separation processes, as well as in catalysis where metal ions are involved as catalysts. Besides, P4VI nanoparticles or micelles can be used as carriers for drug delivery. The polymer’s ability to undergo pH-responsive swelling or collapse can be exploited to control the release of drugs at specific sites in the body, such as tumors with slightly acidic microenvironments.
