Description

PLLA-mPEG (Poly(L-lactide)-PEG-methyl ether) is employed in the manufacturing of biodegradable implants, such as sutures, screws, plates, and pins, for orthopedic and soft tissue repair. The copolymer gradually degrades in vivo, eliminating the need for surgical removal, while the mPEG segments reduce inflammation and foreign body response. These implants provide temporary mechanical support and facilitate tissue healing, eventually being replaced by native tissue.
