Mono-(6-Mercapto-6-Deoxy)-β-Cyclodextrin or Mono-(6-Mercapto-6-Deoxy)-Beta-Cyclodextrin or S-β-CD is a cyclodextrin derivative where a mercapto group (-SH) is attached to one of the primary hydroxyl groups of the β-cyclodextrin molecule. The mercapto group of Mono-(6-Mercapto-6-deoxy)-β-Cyclodextrin imparts chemical reactivity, particularly in thiol-disulfide exchange reactions. This property can be utilized for the modification of surfaces, the conjugation of molecules, or the synthesis of novel materials through thiol chemistry.
