Description

Dibenzo-24-crown 8-Ether consists of a macrocyclic ring containing eight oxygen atoms forming the crown structure. Additionally, two benzene rings (dibenzo) are attached to the crown ether ring. Crown ethers, including dibenzo-24-crown-8 ether, are commonly used as phase transfer catalysts in organic synthesis. They facilitate the transfer of ions or molecules between immiscible phases, such as between aqueous and organic phases, by forming stable complexes with cations and enhancing their solubility in the organic phase.
