2,4-pyridinedicarboxylic acid N-oxide or pyridine 2,​4-​dicarboxylic acid N-​oxide or dipyr NO or H2PDCO is derived from niacin (vitamin B3) by oxidation of one of the nitrogen atoms in the pyridine ring. Niacin N-oxide has been studied for its potential pharmacological properties, including its effects on lipid metabolism, cardiovascular health, and inflammation. Research suggests that it may have similar biological activities to niacin, such as lipid-lowering effects, but with potentially fewer side effects.
