1,1,2,2-tetra(pyridin-4-yl)ethene or Pyridine, 4,​4′,​4”,​4”’-​(1,​2-​ethenediylidene)​tetrakis- or 4,​4′,​4”,​4”’-​(1,​2-​Ethenediylidene)​tetrakis[pyridine] or TPE consists of an ethene (C2H4) core with four pyridine rings attached. Each pyridine ring is substituted at the 4-position of the pyridine structure. The nitrogen atoms in the pyridine rings can act as coordination sites for metal ions, making 1,1,2,2-Tetra(pyridin-4-yl)ethene useful in the synthesis of metal complexes or catalysts.
