Description

N,N,N’,N’-Tetrakis(Pyridin-2-Ylmethyl)Propane-1,3-Diamine or tppn is propane-1,3-diamine, which consists of a propane backbone with two amino (NH₂) groups at positions 1 and 3. Each amino group is substituted with a pyridin-2-ylmethyl group (C₅H₄N-CH₂), resulting in four pyridylmethyl groups attached to the central diamine core. The nitrogen atoms of the diamine core and the nitrogen atoms of the pyridylmethyl groups can act as donor atoms for coordination to metal ions. This makes N,N,N’,N’-Tetrakis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)propane-1,3-diamine useful in the synthesis of metal complexes.
