Description

Thyroglobulin (non rec.) biotinylated is a specialized form of thyroglobulin protein that has been chemically modified to incorporate biotin molecules. Thyroglobulin is a glycoprotein produced by the thyroid gland. It serves as a precursor in the synthesis of thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3). Biotinylated thyroglobulin is produced by chemically attaching biotin molecules to specific sites on the thyroglobulin protein. Biotinylated thyroglobulin can be used in immunoassays (e.g., ELISA, Western blotting) for the detection of antibodies against thyroglobulin. This is useful in diagnosing autoimmune thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease.
