Description

Biotin-PEG4-MeTz is a chemical compound that combines biotin, a polyethylene glycol (PEG4) linker, and a methyltetrazine (MeTz) moiety. Methyltetrazine is a reactive group that participates in bioorthogonal chemistry reactions, particularly inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) cycloaddition reactions with strained alkenes or alkynes (such as trans-cyclooctene or tetrazine derivatives). This reaction is highly selective and rapid under physiological conditions. Biotin-PEG4-MeTz can be used for site-specific labeling of biomolecules in complex biological systems. The MeTz group allows for selective and covalent attachment to trans-cyclooctene (TCO) or tetrazine-modified biomolecules or surfaces. This bioorthogonal chemistry is valuable in studying protein-protein interactions, cellular imaging, and targeted drug delivery.
