N-dodecanoyl-L-Homoserine lactone-3-hydrazone-biotin (N-dodecanoyl-L-HSL-3-hydrazone-biotin / N-[(3S)-tetrahydro-2-oxo-3-furanyl]-dodecanamide-hydrazone-biotin) is a derivative of N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL), which is a signaling molecule used by many Gram-negative bacteria for quorum sensing. Quorum sensing is a mechanism through which bacteria can coordinate gene expression in response to changes in population density. AHLs like OdDHL play a crucial role in this process by allowing bacteria to regulate behaviors such as biofilm formation, virulence factor expression, and antibiotic production.
