TCEP-biotin (Tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine-biotin) combines the reducing properties of TCEP with the specific biotinylation capability of biotin, making it a versatile tool in protein chemistry, proteomics, and various biotechnological applications. TCEP is a strong reducing agent commonly used to break disulfide bonds (-S-S-) in proteins. It converts disulfide bonds to free thiol groups (-SH), thereby maintaining proteins in a reduced state. Biotin (vitamin B7) is covalently attached to TCEP, allowing for specific labeling or modification of proteins or other biomolecules.
