PLA-PEG-Bio or Poly(lactic acid)-Poly(ethylene glycol)-Biotin is a copolymer that integrates biodegradable poly(lactic acid) (PLA) segments with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) segments terminated with biotin groups. PLA is a biodegradable polyester derived from renewable resources like corn starch or sugarcane. It is widely used in biomedical applications due to its biocompatibility and ability to degrade into non-toxic lactic acid in vivo. PEG is a hydrophilic polymer known for its biocompatibility and resistance to protein adsorption. It enhances the solubility and stability of biomolecules and polymers in aqueous environments. Biotin is a small molecule that binds specifically and strongly to avidin and streptavidin proteins, forming one of the strongest non-covalent bonds in nature.
