Description

DM1-MCC-PEG3-biotin refers to a complex molecule designed for targeted drug delivery applications, particularly in the field of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). DM1 is a potent cytotoxic agent derived from the naturally occurring compound maytansine. It inhibits microtubule assembly, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. MCC serves as a linker that attaches DM1 to the PEG spacer. DM1-MCC-PEG3-biotin is designed to be conjugated to antibodies targeting specific antigens on cancer cells. Antibodies recognize and bind to antigens on the surface of cancer cells, internalizing the ADCs. Once inside the cancer cell, DM1 induces cell death, selectively killing cancer cells while sparing healthy cells.
