Description

Fmoc-Lys (biotin-PEG12)-OH can be used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) to introduce a biotinylated lysine residue into peptides. The Fmoc protecting group allows for stepwise peptide chain elongation, while the biotin-PEG12 moiety provides affinity for avidin or streptavidin-based detection or purification methods. Fmoc (Fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl) is a protecting group commonly used in peptide synthesis to protect the amino group (-NH2) of lysine. Fmoc-Lysine is a derivative of lysine with the Fmoc group attached to protect its amino group during peptide synthesis. PEG spacers are hydrophilic and flexible, designed to increase solubility, reduce steric hindrance, and improve the accessibility of biotin for interactions with other molecules or surfaces.
