Description

Desthiobiotin-PEG7-Amine combines the desthiobiotin affinity, PEG spacer benefits, and amine group reactivity. Its applications include biotinylation of biomolecules, PEGylation, site-specific conjugation, affinity purification, and bioconjugation. Desthiobiotin is a biotin derivative where the sulfur atom in the thiourea moiety is replaced with a methylene group. It retains the ability to bind avidin or streptavidin, similar to biotin, but with potentially lower affinity. PEGylation can enhance solubility, prolong circulation time, reduce immunogenicity, and improve stability of biomolecules. The amine group (–NH₂) is a reactive functional group that can participate in a variety of bioconjugation reactions. It can react with carboxylic acids (such as NHS esters) or activated esters to form stable amide bonds.
