Description

Biotin hydrazide HCl is a specific form of biotin conjugated with a hydrazide group and existing in its hydrochloride salt form. Hydrazide Group (-NH-NH2) is a chemical group containing two amino groups connected by a hydrazine (-NH-NH-) linker. This functional group allows for the selective conjugation of biotin to carbonyl-containing molecules, such as aldehydes or ketones, through hydrazone bond formation. Biotin hydrazide HCl can be used to label glycoproteins or glycosylated proteins. The hydrazide group reacts specifically with the aldehyde groups present in the carbohydrate moieties of glycoproteins, enabling selective biotinylation for subsequent detection or purification using streptavidin or avidin-based methods.
