a1-3-Galactobiose-biotin is a biotinylated carbohydrate molecule. This means it consists of a galactobiose (a disaccharide made of two galactose units) attached to biotin, a vitamin that is commonly used in biochemical assays due to its strong binding affinity to avidin and streptavidin proteins. It is used to study interactions between glycans and lectins. The biotinylated glycan can bind to specific lectins, which can then be detected using streptavidin-conjugated markers.
