Clindamycin B Palmitate ((2S-trans)-Methyl 7-Chloro-6,7,8-trideoxy-6-[[(4-ethyl-1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinyl)carbonyl]amino]-1-thio-L-threo-α-D-galacto-octopyranoside 2-Hexadecanoate) is a modified form of clindamycin with a palmitate ester, aimed at improving the drug’s pharmacokinetic properties such as solubility, absorption, and release. Clindamycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, which prevents the formation of peptide bonds. This action is effective against various Gram-positive bacteria and some anaerobes. The palmitate ester can modify the drug’s pharmacokinetics, such as its absorption rate and duration of action. Esterification with a long-chain fatty acid like palmitate can enhance lipid solubility and potentially improve tissue penetration. This product is available in kilograms.
