Centrinone-B (2-[[2-Fluoro-4-[[(2-fluoro-3-nitrophenyl)methyl]sulfonyl]phenyl]thio]-5-methoxy-N-(5-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-6-(1-piperidinyl)-4-pyrimidinamine) is a small molecule inhibitor specifically targeting the enzyme Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4). PLK4 is a crucial regulator of centriole duplication, and its inhibition has significant implications in cell cycle regulation and cancer therapy. By inhibiting PLK4, Centrinone-B effectively disrupts centriole duplication, leading to centrosome depletion and ultimately, cell cycle arrest. Centrinone-B inhibits PLK4, preventing centriole duplication, leading to centrosome depletion. This disruption in the cell cycle can induce cell death, particularly in cancer cells that rely on centrosome duplication for rapid proliferation.
