1β-Calcipotriene ((1R,3R,5Z)-5-[(2E)-2-[(1R,3aS,7aR)-1-[(1R,2E,4S)-4-Cyclopropyl-4-hydroxy-1-methyl-2-buten-1-yl]octahydro-7a-methyl-4H-inden-4-ylidene]ethylidene]-4-methylene-1,3-cyclohexanediol) is a derivative of calcipotriene, a synthetic vitamin D3 analog used primarily in dermatology. Calcipotriene itself is known for its efficacy in treating psoriasis and other skin conditions by modulating cell proliferation and differentiation. 1β-Calcipotriene is used in the treatment of psoriasis. It works by binding to vitamin D receptors in skin cells, thereby reducing inflammation and normalizing cell growth and differentiation. This helps in alleviating the symptoms of psoriasis, such as scaling and redness.
