Description

APTES-N3 (3-Triethoxysilylpropylamine-Azide) is a compound widely used in surface chemistry and materials science. 3-Triethoxysilylpropylamine is a silane coupling agent with an amino group. It contains a triethoxysilyl group that can react with surfaces or substrates, and an aminopropyl group that can interact with other chemical entities. The azide group (–N₃) is a functional group with a linear arrangement of three nitrogen atoms. It is highly reactive and can participate in click chemistry, especially the copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC). APTES-N3 can be used to modify surfaces of materials such as glass, silica, or metals. The silane group forms a covalent bond with the surface, while the azide group provides a reactive site for further chemical reactions.
