6-N3-β-CD (6-Azide-β-cyclodextrin) is a derivative of β-cyclodextrin with an azide functional group introduced at the 6-position of the cyclodextrin ring. β-Cyclodextrin is a cyclic oligosaccharide composed of seven glucose units linked by α-1,4-glycosidic bonds. The glucose units form a toroidal (doughnut-shaped) structure with a hydrophilic outer surface and a hydrophobic central cavity. The azide group allows for the use of click chemistry to attach various functional groups or molecules. This can be used to create complex molecules or materials with specific properties. 6-Azide-β-cyclodextrin can be used in drug delivery systems where the azide group enables further functionalization with therapeutic agents or targeting ligands.
