PNIPAM-co-PMA (Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide)-co-(Poly(Glycidyl Methacrylate)) is a copolymer combining the properties of Poly(N-Isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and Poly(Glycidyl Methacrylate) (PGMA). PNIPAM exhibits a sharp phase transition in aqueous solutions, becoming hydrophobic above its LCST (around 32°C), which causes the polymer to collapse into a globular state. Below this temperature, it remains hydrated and soluble. PGMA’s epoxy groups can be used for further chemical modifications or crosslinking. The PNIPAM-co-PGMA copolymer can be used to create hydrogels with temperature-sensitive swelling and deswelling behaviors. These hydrogels can be used in applications such as sensors, actuators, and responsive materials.
