Description

Ale-N3 (Alendronate-Azide) combines the therapeutic properties of alendronate with the reactivity of the azide group. Alendronate binds strongly to bone mineral, inhibiting bone resorption by osteoclasts, and is used clinically to manage bone density and prevent fractures. Ale-N3 can serve as a chemical probe to investigate the mechanisms of bone metabolism and the action of bisphosphonates at a molecular level. The azide group can facilitate the creation of labeled or functionalized versions of alendronate for detailed studies. Besides, the azide group can be used to conjugate Ale-N3 to antibodies or other immunoreagents for use in immunoassays. This can enhance the specificity and sensitivity of assays for detecting bisphosphonates or bone resorption markers.
