Description

Tetrazine-Doxorubicin (Tz-Doxorubicin) is a conjugate that combines the powerful cytotoxic properties of doxorubicin with the bioorthogonal chemistry capabilities of the tetrazine moiety. This combination offers several advanced applications, including targeted therapy, bioorthogonal chemistry, combination therapies, mechanistic studies, pharmacokinetics, and cancer research. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic with potent antitumor activity. It works by intercalating DNA, inhibiting topoisomerase II, and generating reactive oxygen species, which ultimately leads to cell death. The tetrazine ring (1,2,4,5-tetrazine) is highly reactive in inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reactions. It allows for bioorthogonal chemistry, which means it can selectively react with strained alkyne-containing partners.
