Description

DSPE-PEG-Cy5 (1,2-Distearoyl-sn-Glycero-3-Phosphoethanolamine (DSPE)-polyethylene glycol with conjugated cyanine 5) is used to modify the surfaces of nanoparticles and liposomes, enhancing their stability and solubility in aqueous environments. The PEGylation prevents aggregation and prolongs circulation time. By attaching targeting ligands to the DSPE-PEG-Cy5, nanoparticles can be directed to specific cells or tissues. The Cy5 dye allows for real-time monitoring of the delivery and distribution of therapeutic agents.
