Description

DSPE-PEG-Azide (DSPE-PEG-N3 / 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-Glycero-3-Phosphoethanolamine-PEG-Azide) consists of a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain attached to a distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DSPE) lipid, with an azide group (N3) for bioorthogonal reactions. DSPE is a lipid with a phosphatidylethanolamine headgroup and two stearoyl (C18) fatty acid tails. It is commonly used in liposome and nanoparticle formulations to provide stability and facilitate incorporation into lipid bilayers. PEG is a hydrophilic polymer known for enhancing solubility, stability, and biocompatibility. It also helps in reducing protein adsorption and immune recognition. The azide group is highly reactive in bioorthogonal chemistry, particularly in click chemistry. It allows for selective and stable conjugation with alkyne-functionalized molecules.
