DSPE-PEG-Azide (DSPE-PEG-N3 / 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-Glycero-3-Phosphoethanolamine-PEG-Azide) can be used to label proteins or cells with imaging agents or other functional molecules. The azide group enables selective labeling via click chemistry, while the PEG chain increases the solubility and reduces nonspecific binding. Besides, the azide group can be used to attach antigens or adjuvants to liposomes or nanoparticles used in vaccines. The PEG chain enhances the stability and delivery of the vaccine components.
