UiO-66-N3 is a type of metal-organic framework (MOF) that incorporates an azide functional group into the UiO-66 structure. The azide groups can be used for the development of imaging agents in biomedical applications. By attaching fluorescent or contrast agents to the azide groups, UiO-66-N3 can be used for imaging techniques such as MRI or fluorescence microscopy. Additionally, the azide groups could be used to create systems for the controlled release of chemicals or drugs. By modifying the framework, UiO-66-N3 can be engineered to release encapsulated materials in response to specific stimuli, such as light or chemical reactions.
