Description

Thy-PnBA-Cou is a polymeric material combining hydrogen bonding, mechanical flexibility, and photoreactivity. The coumarin moiety enables light-triggered reactions, such as the reversible formation and cleavage of cyclobutane dimers through [2+2] cycloaddition upon exposure to UV light. This property can be used to control the polymer’s structure, enabling the design of materials that can be altered or repaired by light. In addition, the polymer can be used in coatings that respond to light, enabling applications such as light-triggered adhesion or release. These coatings can be applied to surfaces that need periodic regeneration or responsiveness to external light stimuli.
