Description

PLLA-Azide (PLLA-N3 / N3-PLLA / Azide capped poly(L-Lactide)) refers to a poly(L-lactide) polymer with azide functional groups (-N3) at the chain ends. PLA is composed of repeating L-lactide units, which are derived from the ring-opening polymerization of lactic acid. The polymer is a semicrystalline material with a helical chain conformation. PLA is biodegradable and has excellent mechanical properties. It is used in various biomedical and environmental applications due to its biocompatibility and ability to degrade in physiological conditions. The presence of the azide groups allows for the attachment of other molecules, polymers, or biomolecules through reactions like the copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), a common click chemistry reaction.
